Washington Associate - Federal Relations

 
 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years relevant experience; college degree required.
  • Must have a working knowledge of legislative and regulatory proceedings and understanding of public policy procedures.  Experience working as a staff member for congress or the executive branch required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and to prioritize work on a daily basis with minimal supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Gather information and report on legislative and regulatory issues.  Communicate with Federal Relations department staff and other API staff members on significant developments affecting areas of assigned responsibility.
  • Develop congressional and executive branch contacts for advocating the industry’s position on legislative and regulatory initiatives. 
  • Attend congressional and executive branch meetings to represent API on issues of importance to the industry.  Prepare written reports on salient issues.
  • Special projects as directed.
