Creating a Better Way for Communities to Prosper

At Anadarko Petroleum’s headquarters in Houston, we’re addressing the city’s most pressing social needs through our involvement with United Way of Texas Gulf Coast. Anadarko employees contribute generously, and the company matches employee donations dollar for dollar. In 2003, Anadarko gave $1.2 million to Houston United Way agencies. Similar efforts took place in Calgary, Rock Springs (Wyoming), Anchorage, and other communities throughout North America.

Anadarko employees are engaged in their communities – they bicycle across Texas to fight multiple sclerosis, judge school science fairs in Calgary and spend their weekends building houses for families in need through Habitat for Humanity International.

Anadarko is creating a future workforce by reaching out to students one by one to engage them in science and business education. Through efforts like Junior Achievement, Girl Scouts, BLAST mentoring program and Explorer Post, Anadarko volunteers are helping children at all grade levels to explore science careers, to understand our country’s system of free enterprise and to envision new educational and professional opportunities they otherwise could not imagine.
