Boreal Caribou Habitat Recovery and Preservation

ConocoPhillips Canada has several operations in boreal caribou habitat. Boreal caribou have been identified as a threatened species, requiring special attention. Through contributions and in-kind services, ConocoPhillips Canada supports the Boreal Caribou Committee, a joint government and industry committee that researches caribou and develops best practices for operating in caribou habitat.

In addition, ConocoPhillips Canada continues to be actively involved in the development of guidelines and the field-testing of new practices. One example of this is in the Red Earth region where ConocoPhillips Canada has supported efforts to re-establish trees and shrubs on old seismic lines as part of the Caribou Range Recovery Project.
