World-class Grizzly Bear Research

ConocoPhillips is a participant in the Foothills Model Forest Grizzly Bear Study taking place in the Edson, Hinton and Jasper National Park areas of Alberta, Canada. This five-year study to determine the effects of industrial activity on the Alberta grizzly bear is supported by government, academia and industry.

The study covers 10,000 acres of land and has generated the largest number of bear movement maps in North America. So far, geographical positioning system collars have been placed on more than 70 grizzlies in the area.
