Since 1999, ExxonMobil has sponsored fur seal tracking research. This has significantly increased understanding of the feeding and breeding habits of this protected species. In Australia, fur seals have been using ExxonMobil's offshore platforms in Bass Strait as resting places. Platform operations are structured to ensure seal safety.
