October 1, 2009
Houston, Texas
The purpose of the forum is to provide for an industry-only environment where operators may gather to share learning opportunities from pipeline incidents or near misses. These incidents and near misses can result from operating conditions, safety situations, or releases. The objective is for participants to take these learnings back to their respective companies to help prevent similar situations from occurring to them.
The industry as a whole will benefit as a result.
Background
In 2007, it was determined that there was no effective mechanism for sharing across the industry the more detailed learnings from pipeline incidents and near misses. By creating such a mechanism, industry leadership decided it would be better positioned to identify opportunities for continuously improving industry safety performance. As a result, this "operator-only" forum was established that is closely modeled after the successful and longstanding "API/NPRA Operating Practices Symposium"
Attendance at the workshop is limited to Liquid Pipeline Operating Companies’ employees only.
